ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR OF INCOME MAINTENANCE DEFINITION:
Under the direction of a Director or Deputy Director of Welfare, assists in the planning, coordination and supervision of activities and staff involved in the collection, analysis, and evaluation of data to determine an applicant's eligibility for program services; does other related work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Coordinates the activities of staff involved in the collection, analysis, and evaluation of information to determine eligibility for program services.
May assist in planning, developing and installing eligibility procedures and program services.
Plans and conducts staff meetings and conferences.
Provides assignments and instructions to employees.
Interprets laws, rules and regulations governing eligibility for program services.
Evaluates quality of service provided by program staff.
Supervises the development and training of income maintenance staff.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with public and private agencies providing additional services needed by clients.
Prepares and/or assigns and reviews correspondence prepared by members of the staff.
Prepares reports.
Supervises the maintenance of records and files.
May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Seven (7) years of professional experience examining, adjusting, determining, or authorizing eligibility or entitlement for cash awards or benefits in a public or private financial assistance program, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
OR
A Master's degree in public or business administration; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional supervisory experience
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the problems encountered by individuals in financial need.
Knowledge of the types of assistance services likely to be needed by program applicants.
Knowledge of research techniques.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other agencies or employees interested or involved in the work of the program.
Ability to coordinate and evaluate the work of assigned employees.
Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
Ability to supervise the maintenance of records and files.
Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
