AUDIO VISUAL AIDS CLERK
DEFINITION:
Under direction, performs the routine tasks involved in
receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing audio-visual aid
material; may set up and operate picture projecting, and other
audio video equipment; does other related duties.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Receives and stores various audio-visual aids.
Places the aids in appropriate bins, shelves, or other suitable
receptacles.
Takes the required precautions to prevent damage, loss, or theft
of the material.
Receives and fills orders for films, tapes and other items.
Records reservations for material on loan.
Packs and marks film, or tapes for delivery.
Picks up and returns films or tapes to supplier and other
sources.
Performs the routine maintenance on audiovisual equipment and
media.
Takes periodic inventories.
Maintains files and records.
Inspects audio-visual aids and reports significant damage or wear
to immediate superior.
May set up and operate projectors and other audiovisual
equipment.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
and/or manual recording and information systems used by the
agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license
valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather
than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties
of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the methods of care, cutting, splicing and marking
of various audiovisual media.
Knowledge of the operation of various types of projectors and
other audiovisual aids.
Knowledge of the care of various sound media and the operation of
playback equipment.
Knowledge of clerical methods and practices.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual
recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or
related units.
Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written
instructions, and to perform simple mechanical operations.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in
English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.
American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as
acceptable forms of communication.
