Job Specification

 TRAFFIC ENUMERATOR

 DEFINITION

 Under direction makes traffic counts, checks buses, and assists in
 compiling traffic reports; does other related duties as required.

 NOTE: The examples of work for this title are for illustrative

 performed on the job may not be listed.

 EXAMPLES OF WORK:

 Counts vehicle and pedestrian traffic during a specified period at a
 designated location.

 Counts and records, using tabulating forms, the number of trucks and
 passenger vehicles, the State of registration, and the direction of
 traffic.

 Checks number and types of buses.

 Checks routes on which buses operate.

 Makes observations to determine if buses load and unload properly.

 Rides buses to note operation with reference to speed, pickup and
 discharge of passengers, and other regulations pertaining to
 observance of laws.

 Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
 and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency,
 office or related units.

 REQUIREMENTS:

      LICENSE:

       Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

       NOTE: The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the
 required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type
 of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.

 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written
 instructions.

 Ability to record and tabulate numerical data.

 Ability to note and record visual observations.

 Ability to prepare statistical and other reports.

 Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording
 and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.

 Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English
 sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign
 Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of
 communication.
