WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR
DEFINITION:
Under direction, has charge of a warehouse and supervises all
concerned personnel; does other related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Prepares and assigns work schedules for all office and warehouse
personnel.
Supervises the recording of materials and supplies that are
received and dispersed from stock.
Makes arrangements for various purchases on request from
supervisory personnel
Prepares various and periodic reports such as inquiries.
Consults with vendors concerning proposed purchase of materials.
Supervises the inventories of stock.
Establishes operational procedures for activities such as
verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and
disposition of materials, and maintenance of inventory.
Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment and
provides for necessary repairs or replacements.
Gives assignments and instructions to assigned personnel.
Supervises the establishment of relevant records and files.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
and/or manual recording and information systems used by
the agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of experience in obtaining, recording,
storing, and issuing of varied types of equipment, materials, and
supplies, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory
capacity.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license
valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather
than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential
duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of problems involved in formulating work schedules for
employees assigned to the warehouse.
Knowledge of methods used in dealing with varied types of persons
and in giving them clear, sound, accurate, and informative
directions.
Knowledge of procedures used in making periodic physical
inventories of the kind and quantity of stores and hand.
Knowledge of methods used in obtaining, storing, safeguarding,
distributing, and supervising the use of needed equipment,
materials, and supplies.
Ability to analyze warehouse problems, organize assigned work,
and develop effective work methods.
Ability to take a leading part in working out the internal
organization and operating procedures of the warehouse.
Ability to deal firmly and effectively with varied types of
individuals and give them clear, accurate, and informative
directions.
Ability to work harmoniously with associates, subordinates, and
other groups and individuals interested in or concerned with the
work.
Ability to direct the recording of the kind and quantity of
received stores.
Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate, informative and
legible reports.
Ability to supervise the establishment and maintenance of
needed records and files.
Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or
manual recording and information systems used by the
agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate
in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered
as acceptable forms of communication.
