FIELD REPRESENTATIVE ENERGY CONSERVATION
DEFINITION:
Under direction, conducts the field and office work involved to
establishment energy conservation programs; provides advice and
assistance in response to inquiries regarding housing insulation and
related energy related improvements; does related work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Interviews the public concerning problems of energy conservation.
Gathers information on energy conservation programs and needs.
Responds to inquiries on energy conservation and availability of
financial assistance for energy conservation programs.
Investigates problems and complaints.
Identifies and analyzes potential and current energy conservation
issues.
Determines causes of heating and cooling problems.
Conducts research on energy conservation procedures and methods.
Prepares applications for energy conservation grants.
Supervises a crew performing work in a rehabilitation program.
May attend meetings and conferences on energy conservation.
Prepares reports.
Gathers and provides information for booklets and guides on energy
conservation.
Recommends basic contract changes.
Oversees the installation of insulation in public and private housing.
Maintains records and files.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with those
interested or involved in the work of the unit.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency,
office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
One year (1) of experience in the identification of energy
conservation improvements for residential, commercial, or industrial
facilities, the enforcement of energy conservation regulations, the
collection and dissemination of information on energy conservation
matters or, the planning and development of energy conservation
programs.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid
in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee
mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the methods used to conduct inspections and
investigations.
Knowledge of the principles and methods of energy conservation.
Knowledge of the methods used to collect and analyze data.
Ability to prepare grant applications.
Ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate information on energy
conservation.
Ability to conduct interviews.
Ability to conduct research on energy conservation matters.
Ability to investigate problems and complaints, and respond to
inquiries.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
with those interested or involved in the work of the program.
Ability to prepare reports.
Ability to maintain records, and files.
Ability to provide instruction and organize work assignments.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording
and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign
Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of
communication.
