PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE
DEFINITION
Under direction, performs routine repetitive and noncomplex
field and office planning work involved in the establishment and
monitoring of social service programs designed to meet the needs of
the community; collects and compiles data to be utilized in the
preparation and conducting of surveys, and assists in transposing
statistical and other data into visual or report form; does related
work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Assists professional staff by performing routine and
noncomplex tasks involved in compiling and gathering various data.
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of graphic and/or
written presentations to be utilized in planning or monitoring
community social service programs.
Meets with the public and others to gather information.
Transposes data collected into usable forms such as simple
graphs, charts, maps, and/or reports.
Makes simple mathematical calculations.
Assists in disseminating results of surveys, public relations
material, and other informational matter.
Prepares various correspondence relative to the work of the
unit.
Maintains essential records and files.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by
the agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid
in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than
employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of
the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of methods and techniques used in gathering
information for social service planning.
Knowledge of methods, types, and preparation of visual
graphs, charts, and reports.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic calculations.
Knowledge of social service needs and resources of the
local community and state.
Knowledge of basic formats used in preparing
correspondence and reports.
Ability to understand, remember, and carry out written and
oral directions.
Ability to learn quickly from written and/or oral explanations or
demonstrations.
Ability to deal effectively on the level required with the
public and others to gather or disseminate information.
Ability to work harmoniously with others.
Ability to gather raw data and present it in meaningful
graphs, charts, maps, or reports.
Ability to develop effective work methods.
Ability to establish and maintain essential records and
files.
Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual
recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or
related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English
sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign
Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of
communication.
