MAINTENANCE WORKER
PARKING METER COLLECTOR
DEFINITION
Under direction performs work involved in collecting, counting, recording, and depositing
monies from parking meters; does other related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Counts and records all monies collected from parking meters.
Reseals coin parking meter boxes for next collection.
Totals daily parking meter collection receipts, balances same, and makes bank deposits.
Reports damaged or inaccurate parking meters.
Maintains records and files.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and
information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of procedures/methods involved in keeping accurate records of cash receipts
after a period of training.
Ability to organize assigned work.
Ability to keep accurate records of monies collected from parking meters.
Ability to make necessary mathematical calculations.
Ability to keep records and files.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems
used by the agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform
duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as
acceptable forms of communication.

PARKING METER REPAIRER
DEFINITION
Under direction performs varied tasks involved in the installation, removal, repairing,
maintenance, and adjustment of parking meters; does other related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Dismantles parking meters, and inspects/cleans/replaces gears, springs, locks, glass, and
other parts.
Installs new and repaired stanchions and parking meters.
Rebuilds outer casings.
Conducts periodic inspections to ensure proper functioning of parking meters.
Paints and cements stanchions on streets.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and
information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of varied types of coin regulated machines and their operation after a period of
training.
Knowledge of reasons for faulty operation and steps necessary to correct the condition
after a period of training.
Knowledge of tools/equipment used in installing, removing, repairing, maintaining, and
adjusting parking meters after a period of training.
Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
Ability to dismantle and replace broken and worn parts.
Ability to rebuild and test parking meters to ensure that they are working properly.
Ability to obtain, store, safeguard, record, and properly use equipment, materials, and
supplies.
SENIOR TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE WORKER
DEFINITION
Under direction, does the more difficult and complex work involved in painting traffic and
crosswalk lines and/or assists in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of traffic
control devices and signs and/or takes the lead over one or more traffic maintenance workers;
does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Mixes paints for traffic lines and paints traffic lines.
Performs varied line painting tasks for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Operates crosswalk type line marking machine, power spray guns, mobile line painters, and
other motorized line painting equipment.
Operates pickup ladder, aerial platform trucks, and drilling equipment.
Provides assignments and instructions to assigned employees.
Erects and repairs damaged traffic poles and signs.
Operates component equipment on a line-striping motor vehicle.
Paints sign poles, and traffic warning and regulatory signs.
Mixes concrete and grouts for traffic pole bases.
Interprets plans and sketches.
Cuts, threads, assembles, and lays electrical conduit and fittings and makes and maintains wood
and metal forms.
Maintains essential records and files.
Utilizes safety equipment and follows safety procedures while controlling traffic flow to ensure
protection of personnel, equipment, and the general public during maintenance operations.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and
information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in work involving the assembly, installation, and maintenance of
traffic control devices and signs, and in painting traffic and crosswalk lines.
LICENSE:
